"The First Diet Cola For Men"

I may have gotten a little of the ol' scalp sweats with my lunch today. It's not the hottest thing in the world, but Stagg's Dynamite Chili definitely has some bite. I do believe I'll be buying another can.
------
I guess this commercial came out over a year ago, but I just saw it for the first time yesterday. I feel like I should hate it, but in the end, it's totally true for me. I am a pretty big Pepsi Max advocate. All the benefits of Diet Pepsi, but it doesn't taste (entirely) like aspartame, and it has extra caffeine? Yes, please! I'll drink diet if there's nothing else, but if you ask me, aspartame is not an 'artificial sweetener,' it's a 'make things taste like aspartame-r,' and that is not a flavour I really like. You get a bit of it in Pepsi Max, but not a lot.

"Men can take anything, except the taste of diet cola."

This ad gives off a vaguely Addams Family vibe to me, in that it looks playful, but it also kind of makes me afraid to find out what's inside it. In the end though, I find it ridiculously cute.

I just upped some new posters to my Gigposters page, if you want to check them out. I feel like I'm missing some, but I can't remember what. I'll have to check later.

Kitchen photos should be going up on Flickr later this week if I have time, if you're interested. I'm excited to finally share!

Patchy post at best. Feels like that kind of week. I'm already itching for it to be over...

Best.Stapleroftheweekpost.Ever. Yes, I do have a favourite stapler, and yes, that stapler is the Swingline Cub Plier. So good. The saddest thing about that post? The plier up above was apparently for sale on ebay (picture stolen from stapler of the week, stolen from the seller). But now it is sold. And I didn't buy it.

Do you see how perfect/beautiful/amazing/ahhhhh! that stapler is? I would have loved to own it. At least it finally prompted me to set it up so ebay sends me notifications anytime the keywords "swingline cub" come up.

Newsboy bot? Another adorable, adorable bot!

Dime bag quilt... An interesting re-use of garbage. Love the little story that goes along with it.

The Dieline has been posting some great stuff lately (often I skim packaging blogs, cause a lot of it deals with wine labels and the like, which I mostly could not care for), so here's a taste of what they're bringing.

- Foxglo lightbulb packaging. So amazing! If these beautiful packages can't get people to switch to eco-friendly bulbs, I don't know what will (okay, aside from not selling any other options...). Wish I was in Europe, so I could pick up one of these boxes, just to ogle it for a couple hours.

- Pepsi (and Mountain Dew) Throwback. On the heels of the whole big crazy (ugly) Pepsi redesign, comes Pepsi throwback, using an older logo, and being a special formulation with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. There's another logo that's popped up for it around, with a real classic logo, but I hope this more 80's version is the one that's really coming out. I hope this makes it to Canada...

- Retro-styled Cereal Boxes. Bringing 'em back! Good point that these aren't really being put out for the kids in the cereal ailse, but for the parents, but still, I'll be happy if I get to see them. Check out this Kix box! Beautiful (except that "retro t-shirt" bit tagged on there). Beautifully photographed too, looks real nice with that background colour...

Sorry for that wicked long last post. I just kept letting things pile up that I wanted to mention. And piling. And piling. If I could just get myself to post more, you'd hopefully get more stuff like this...

Engaged, but not underage

So the above ad ran in the Princess film guide earlier this week, with positive results. I will hereafter refer to it as "the most important ad I will (likely) ever make". You may remember awhile back I mentioned making a big purchase, and well, the ring pictured up there is it. Pretty darn happy. Now there's just a ton of planning to do...

Here's a bit more about that Pepsi redesign. I guess they mailed out examples (old, current, and new), and a video posted, on that site there to "digital and social media influencers," which I can only assume is a fancy-pants term for bloggers and the like. Makes sense to me, since certain sites were already abuzz with the news...

An interesting project from NBC. They've gotten different recording artists to record "covers" of the NBC chime "jingle". There's a video on there of the Flaming Lips recording theirs. Of particular note is Mr. Coyne's double neck guitar that repurposes a guitar hero guitar neck into an actual way to make real noise. (via Draplin)

Here's a neat little desk that I am currently smitten with. I just love the way it keeps itself up.

Finally, I am madly in love with these bus passes from the 40's. They're just perfect. I really can't stop looking at them. Maybe a style to influence some wedding related paper ephemera? We'll see just what I'll get to get away with for that stuff. I particularly like 10, 1, 8, & 7. Wish there were some close ups...
